seamus bruno
newton, ma
I am the camp's Water Safety Instructor, Head l Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and Personal Trainer from Newton, MA. I attended Stonehill College and Boston College's Carroll School of Business as an accounting major., I am now a graduate student at American International College working toward my M.Ed. in teaching I am also the director of the after school program at the West Suburban YMCA in Newton Massachusetts during the academic year. I have extensive experience working with children and coaching. I was the captain of both my high school's Division one varsity basketball & volleyball teams (Newton North). I have coached a high school AAU basketball team (Middlesex Magic) and continue to train athletes at the Newton YMCA. I received a lot of my swim training while life-guarding for Harvard University during college. I grew up attending the camp and really enjoyed it.

I am a lifeguard from Newton, MA. I graduated from Wheaton College in 2018 with a Business degree. I was the captain of their men's basketball team. I have completed summer internships at Sustainable
Nantucket and Acksmart.com. I enjoyed educating the ommunity about the benefits of organic nutrition and solar energy. I grew up playing competitive soccer.
I was the captain of my Division one varsity basketball team (Newton North).
I recently started a business on island and on MVY called Ackeats.com and MVEats.com both hosted via delivery.com, which is a delivery service connecting people on Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard to local restaurants, grocery and beverages delivery. Download the app to check it out. I am also working part time as a real estate salesperson at Congdon and Coleman Real Estate Office on Main Street. I enjoy working with children of all ages and especially teaching them basketball skills as well as water, safety classes and lifeguard skills. I grew up attending the camp and had great summers there throughout my youth.

​Olga is our Yoga instructor, Art teacher and Photographer. She is a seasonal resident from Russia who loves to travel. Olga spent time this past academic year residing in India, enhancing her Yoga teaching skills. and passion with vegetarian cooking post enjoying an extensive time in Thailand being artistically inspired by the phenomenal sea creatures. Olga's art is amazing with skills in many mediums. She exhibits her works at the Sustainable Nantucket market in town on Saturdays so be sure to stop by and say hello. Olga is multi talented. She took nearly all of the photos on this website. She puts together beautiful books of individual campers' photos while at camp for families, as well as amazing family portraits or events for our camp families which are very popular so book early! If you're interested in getting a custom book of your child's week (or summer) at camp, let her know! Olga can be found mornings at drop off at the registration desk or setting up in the Art room.

I am a high school student at Fieldston School in New York City. I started attending Murray Camp when I was 4 years old. The Murray Camp community has been like a family to me. I love spending endless hours in the water or on the beach, reading, running, and playing sports, especially soccer and basketball. I am so excited to return this year as a counselor. I cannot wait to greet all of the new and returning campers!

My name is Mary. I am from Simsbury, Connecticut and a student at Boston College. This will be my 2nd summer at Murray Camp and I’m so excited to be returning! I play basketball and lacrosse and enjoy spending time at the beach. I enjoy volunteering and teaching young kids how to play basketball. I’m so excited to spend the summer on Nantucket and seeing new and returning faces this summer.

I am a rising sophomore at Darien High School in Darien Ct. I play tennis, ski, and run cross country. I have been visiting my grandparents in Nantucket since I was a baby and love all my summers. Counting down the days until I get to meet all the campers and for all the camp days we will have together. Looking forward to my first full summer as a counselor at Murray Camp!

I am a lifeguard and rising high school senior from Hingham, Massachusetts. At my school I run/play varsity track and tennis and in my free time I love reading or doing any sort of art based activity. I have two younger brothers and tons of experience with kids from babysitting and coaching middle school track. Nantucket is my favorite place and I am so excited to be a murray camp counselor here this summer!

I am a lifeguard and a high school student from Boston. I attend high school at Beaver Country Day School In Newton. I have attended Murray Camp as a camper and a CIT. I am excited about being a counselor this summer. I love kids and enjoy teaching them all sorts of water and sports skills, Art in various mediums and crafts. I have two younger siblings and lots of babysitting experience.

I recently graduated from Buckingham Browne and Nichols High School in Cambridge and am off to Boston College in the fall. I am a lifeguard and spent a lot of time last summer as a babysitter for Murray Camp families. I grew up sailing in Scituate Harbor and enjoy activities such as tennis, skiing, and soccer! Throughout my childhood, I’ve had the opportunity of spending time here on Nantucket with family and friends. This is my third summer at the Murray Camp, and I can’t wait to be back!

I am a lifeguard and student at Hingham High School. I play volleyball, varsity basketball, and tennis. I have grown up adventuring on the island and I am looking forward to spending the summer as a counselor. When I am not working, I love going to the beach and spending time with my family and friends. I love children and I cannot wait to make memories, similar to the ones I had growing up on Nantucket. This will be my first year at Murray Camp and I am so excited to meet the campers!

Hi! I am from Newton, MA and I just finished my freshman year at Elon University. This will be my first summer at Murray Camp, but my sister was a counselor in the past and said great things! I have been coming to the island every summer since I was born, and it is my favorite place to be! I have played sports my whole life, and love being outside and active. I have experience in childcare with babysitting, with all different ages. I am the youngest of 4, and love being around people! I can't wait to spend the summer at Murray with our campers!

I am a rising Junior at Hingham High School. I play soccer, run track and love to ski. I have been coming to Nantucket my whole life and love to explore the island. This will be my second year as a counselor and I am so excited to be back for another summer and cannot wait to see everyone!

Hi there! I'm Grace Penzone, and I call Lexington, MA, home. Currently, I'm a junior at St. Mark's School in Southborough, MA. You'll often find me on the lacrosse field or the squash court. But what truly lights me up is making a positive impact in my community. That's why I'm proud to be a part of the Special Olympics program at my high school. When I'm not busy with school and sports, I love escaping to Vermont with my family. I'm beyond excited to be a camp counselor at Murray Camp. I can't wait to see what fun lies ahead!

I am a rising Junior who attends El Cerrito High School. I compete on the water polo and swim teams, and I spent last summer as a lifeguard. I have spent a portion of every summer on Nantucket, which is my favorite place on earth to be. I am an experienced fisherman, and on Nantucket, I catch bluefish and stripers in the ocean, as well as perch in the ponds. I enjoy working with kids and am very excited to meet all the campers!

From Campers
to Counselors...
Murray Camp is such a mainstay in the life of those who summer on Nantucket that many of our campers become our counselors! All of our counselors have had experience with babysitting and most are First Aid Certified, CPR Certified, and are certified Life Guards.

In addition to our full-time staff, we subcontract three lifeguards from the Nantucket Community School Pool, the crew of the sailing vessel Endeavor, the staff of Ack Surf School and the Absolute fishing vessel staff.

The Friendship Sloop Endeavor has been offering sailing charters in Nantucket for over 30 years. The Endeavor is a Coast Guard Certified Vessel inspected each spring by the United States Coast Guard. The crew of the Endeavor is required by the Coast Guard to participate in a random drug-testing program. The route the Endeavor takes is typically out through the Jetties and in the Nantucket Sound. The vessel is no more than three miles from shore at any point in the trip. Captain James Genthner has been operating the Endeavor in Nantucket for the entire 30 years. He is a Coast Guard Licensed Captain who has been sailing for over 30 years. Jim and his wife, Sue Genthner, reside on the island year round, where they raised their two children.
In accordance with Massachusetts law, Murray Camp performs full background checks on all counselors and employees of the camp - including CORI and SORI checks.
